About the Event

A graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, Judge Rhodes has served as an Assistant United States Attorney, a United States Magistrate, and as the Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Judge Rhodes presided over the City of Detroit’s 2013 bankruptcy, the largest municipal bankruptcy in the history of the United States. After retiring from the bankruptcy bench in 2015, Judge Rhodes was appointed as the Transition Manager for the Detroit Public Schools and the Detroit Public Schools Community District by Governor Rick Snyder. The topic for Judge Rhodes’ speech will be “The Detroit Bankruptcy: Five Years Later.”
