New York – JAMS, The Resolution Experts, announced today that Lawrence W. Pollack, formerly Co-Chairman of the Litigation Department at the global law firm Dewey & LeBoeuf, LLP, has joined JAMS. Mr. Pollack will be based in the New York Resolution Center where he will mediate and arbitrate disputes in a variety of areas including insurance, reinsurance, general commercial disputes, professional liability, antitrust, environmental, and personal injury/torts.
Known as a settlement master for his involvement in the resolution of many high profile matters over the length of his career, Mr. Pollack joins JAMS after 28 years in private practice at Dewey & LeBoeuf and its predecessor firms.

Mr. Pollack’s dispute resolution accomplishments have included the settlement of insurance claims concerning alleged respiratory injury following the clean up of the September 11, 2001 disaster in New York City, as well as the settlement of insurance claims lodged by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, in relation to the substantial property damage arising out of the September 11 disaster.
Mr. Pollack’s private practice career at Dewey & LeBoeuf featured an extensive litigation resume, with specialization in insurance and reinsurance matters, including trial and arbitration of virtually all facets of marine and non-marine insurance matters, with an emphasis on sophisticated, complex, insurance and reinsurance issues. Beginning in 1999, Mr. Pollack served as a Chairman of his firm’s Litigation Department for 10 years. He also became a member of the firm’s Executive Committee in 2003, and served on that committee until his retirement from the firm in 2009.
Mr. Pollack has been named to The International Who’s Who of Insurance & Reinsurance Lawyers annually since 2005, and to Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers annually since 2007.
Mr. Pollack earned his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1979 and his B.A., with High Honors, from the University of Rochester in 1976. He served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Henry Bramwell, U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of New York (1979-1981), after which he began his career as an associate with LeBoeuf, Lamb, Leiby & MacRae, which later became LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae, LLP, and then Dewey & LeBoeuf.
