New Panelist Announcement

Miami – JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, today announced the addition of Cristina Pereyra (retired Judge 11th Judicial Circuit). Ms. Pereyra will be based in the JAMS Miami Resolution Center and serve as an arbitrator, mediator and special master in a variety of disputes including Banking, Business/Commercial, Civil Rights, Class Action/Mass Torts, Construction, Education/Schools, Employment, Entertainment, Estates/Probate/Trusts, Family Law, Healthcare, Insurance, Personal Injury/Torts and Real Property.

After a distinguished career as an assistant public defender, Ms. Pereyra became a Miami-Dade County Court Judge in the 11th Judicial Circuit in 1999. In 2005, she was appointed as a Circuit Court Judge by former Governor Jeb Bush and presided over a wide range of cases, successfully assisting parties to reach a resolution and eliminating the need for trial. Two years later, she retired to preside on the first national Spanish- language, court reality program “Veredicto Final” (Final Verdict). In 2011, she became Univision’s in-house legal correspondent.

“Ms. Pereyra’s extensive knowledge of the law and impressive background positions her to serve as an effective and skilled neutral,” said Chris Poole, JAMS president and CEO. “We are thrilled to have her join the panel in Miami.”

“I have gained valuable ADR experience throughout my career and I look forward to utilizing it at JAMS, said Ms. Pereyra. “I’m excited to work alongside the talented panelists in Miami and start this next chapter of my career.”

Ms. Pereyra earned J.D.s from both the Universidad Anahuac in Mexico City and the University of Miami School of Law. Ms. Pereyra is fluent in Spanish.
