Retired Judge Lucy Chernow Brown Joins JAMS in Florida

New Panelist Announcement
BOCA RATON – JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, today announced the addition of Lucy Chernow Brown (retired Judge 15th Judicial Circuit) to its panel. Ms. Brown will be based in the JAMS Boca Raton Hearing Center and serve as an arbitrator, mediator and special master in a variety of disputes including Business/Commercial, Class Action/Mass Tort, Employment, Health Care, Insurance, Personal Injury/Torts, Professional Liability and Real Property.

Ms. Brown joined JAMS after serving 24 years as a Circuit Judge in Palm Beach County. During her tenure on the bench, she presided over thousands of civil matters. She is known in the Palm Beach community as a legal champion whose depth of experience as a trial attorney and judge makes her distinctly suited to resolve each dispute brought to her.

“Lucy is known for her preparation and ability to swiftly absorb the complexities and sensitivities of each case,” said Chris Poole, JAMS president and CEO. “She is skilled in helping adversarial parties find common ground and we know she will make an excellent addition to our panel in Florida.”

“Mediation appeals to me as an opportunity to play an active role in dispute resolution, rather than making legal rulings and supervising endless litigation battles, which too often merely seem to prolong the misery for the parties,” said Ms. Brown. “I look forward to starting the next chapter in my professional career with JAMS, the best of ADR providers.”

Ms. Brown received her B.A. from University of Rochester, her M.A. from Columbia University and her J.D. magna cum laude from Nova University Law Center. The Florida Association for Women Lawyers honored Ms. Brown for Excellence in Judicial Service in 2014. The Palm Beach Justice Association named her the Jurist of the Year in 2013. She was also honored by the North Palm Beach County Bar Association as Jurist of the year for 2014.
