Awards Panelist News

SAN DIEGO – JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, is proud to announce that Hon. Irma E. Gonzalez (Ret.) was inducted into the San Diego County Women’s Hall of Fame. Judge Gonzalez was awarded this year’s Trailblazer award.

Created in 2001, the San Diego County Women’s Hall of Fame is an annual induction ceremony that recognizes five women from San Diego whose actions and accomplishments have visibly made a difference for women in the community. The five women honored every year are remembered for their efforts in a Hall of Fame exhibit housed at the Women’s Museum of California.

To say that Judge Gonzalez has paved the way for many is an understatement. Her knowledge, talent and skill are impressive and we continue to count ourselves very fortunate to have her as part of our panel.

-Chris Poole, JAMS President and CEO

After nearly 30 years of judicial service, Judge Gonzalez joined JAMS and is based in the San Diego Resolution Center. She is the first Mexican-American woman to be appointed as a federal judge. Judge Gonzalez was appointed to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California in 1992 and served as Chief Judge from 2005 until 2012. She also worked as an assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Arizona and in Los Angeles. She later served as a U.S. Magistrate judge and a San Diego County Superior Court judge.
