Hon. William J. Elfving (Ret.) Joins JAMS in Silicon Valley

Former Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge joins JAMS as an arbitrator and mediator

New Panelist Announcement

Silicon Valley – JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide, today announced the addition of Hon. William J. Elfving (Ret.) to its panel. Judge Elfving will be based in the JAMS Silicon Valley Resolution Center. He will serve as an arbitrator and mediator in a variety of disputes including Business/Commercial, Employment, Family Law, Insurance, Intellectual Property, Personal Injury/Torts, Professional Liability and Real Property.

Judge Elfving joins JAMS after 20 years on the Santa Clara County Superior Court. As a judge, he served in the civil division for 17 years and in the family division for three years. His responsibilities included case management calendars, law and motion, ex parte matters, ADR calendars, judicial custody conferences, settlement conferences and trials.

Prior to his time on the bench, Judge Elfving practiced civil and family law for 30 years. In private practice, he tried cases in diverse areas, including legal malpractice, malicious prosecution, real estate, broker errors and omissions, personal injury, contracts, business and family matters.

Judge Elfving is well-known in the legal community as thoughtful, persistent and fair. His depth of experience and ability to empathize and relate to people make him a great addition to our panel in Silicon Valley. We’re thrilled to have him join us.

Judge Elfving graduated with a B.A. from Stanford University and earned his J.D. from UCLA School of Law.
