Hon. LeRoy A. Simmons (Ret.) Joins JAMS in Inland Empire

Experienced sitting judge of the San Bernardino County Courts joins JAMS as an arbitrator, mediator, and special master

New Panelist Announcement

Inland Empire, California – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to welcome Hon. LeRoy A. Simmons (Ret.) to its panel. Judge Simmons joins JAMS after spending the last 19 years of his career as mediator, arbitrator and special master. Judge Simmons is regularly selected as a neutral to resolve matters, and he handles complex cases as a special master by appointment of the superior courts of San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange and Los Angeles counties.

Based in the Inland Empire Resolution Center, Judge Simmons will serve as an arbitrator, mediator and special master in a wide variety of disputes, including construction defect, environmental, employment, estate/probate/trusts, family law, personal injury/torts, professional liability and real property.

Judge Simmons served as a sitting judge and by assignment on the San Bernardino County courts for nearly three decades. He was elected to the Municipal Court in 1974 and appointed to the Superior Court in 1978, where he served as presiding judge of the Appellate Department for two years. Upon his retirement in 1994, he began hearing law and motion matters on assignment to the Superior Court for the next 10 years.

Judge Simmons is highly regarded for understanding and resolving complex cases. Coupled with his extensive background in ADR, we are confident that he will make an excellent addition to our JAMS panel.

-Chris Poole, JAMS President and CEO

During his tenure on the bench, Judge Simmons handled hundreds of jury and bench trials and even presided over the well-known Anderson v. Pacific Gas and Electric Company case, which was the basis for the movie Erin Brockovich.

Judge Simmons began his legal career in the San Bernardino District Attorney’s Office and later worked as a trial lawyer handling personal injury, family law and criminal matters.

I have always found great satisfaction in helping parties successfully resolve disputes. I’m looking forward to bringing my background and experience to this next chapter in my legal journey.
