Hon. Terence Bruiniers (Ret.) Joins JAMS in San Francisco

Former California Court of Appeal justice joins JAMS as an arbitrator, mediator, and special master

New Panelist Announcement

SAN FRANCISCO – JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce the addition of Hon. Terence Bruiniers (Ret.) to its panel. Justice Bruiniers joins JAMS after serving as a justice on the First District, Division Five, California Court of Appeal, authoring more than 600 opinions in nearly all areas of the law. He served from 1998 to 2009 on the Contra Costa Superior Court, where he implemented one of the first programs in the state for electronic filing of court documents in the court’s complex litigation department.  He also led implementation of the electronic filing system now in use in all California appellate courts.

Justice Bruiniers will be based in the San Francisco Resolution Center and serve as an arbitrator, mediator and special master in a wide variety of disputes, including business/commercial, personal injury, employment, environmental, class action and real property.

Justice Bruiniers is known for his meticulous preparation and in-depth understanding of the cases coming before him. We are confident that he will make a great addition to the well-respected JAMS panel in San Francisco.

-Chris Poole, JAMS President and CEO

Prior to his time on the bench, Judge Bruiniers practiced law for 18 years at the San Francisco firm of Farrand, Cooper & Bruiniers. He handled business and commercial litigation and maintained a transactional practice representing national and international clients in technology-related matters. As a deputy district attorney in Alameda County for seven years, he prosecuted more than 100 jury trials to verdict, including capital cases.

I have handled countless complex cases through the years and understand the importance of the successful and timely resolution of conflicts. Joining JAMS felt like a natural progression of my career and I’m eager to apply my skillset to this new role.

-Hon. Terence Bruiniers (Ret.), JAMS Arbitrator, Mediator, and Special Master

Justice Bruiniers received his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley and earned his J.D., with honors, from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law.
